You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps:
1. Right click on My Computer.
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click on Device Manager.
4. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category.
If Sound Card is not Listed there expand Other devices.
If there is a yellow question mark next to the name of the sound card, there might be a problem with the driver.
5 Right-click on Sound Card and then click on Update Driver. Browse for the path where files are stored.
Restart computer.
OR
1. check sound and audio properties from control panel.
IF found all the sound settings was grayed out.
2. Click on "start" then "run" type "services.msc" and click on "OK"
3. Search for "Windows audio services"
Enable the service as "automatic" and start the service.
4. restart the computer.
